Call Etiquette
Listed below are call etiquette rules for participation on our audio webinars. Please read through and familiarize yourself with these so you may get the most out of our time together.
- Always feel free to announce yourself at the start of the call by saying your first name and if you wish you may indicate where you are calling from and the name of your organization are.
- When using your PC, Laptop or Tablet during the session, indicate when you would like to ask a question by clicking the Hand Symbol. The host/panelist will unmute on a sequence order basis so you can ask your questions or make a comment. Remember to click the Hand Symbol again to lower your hand when you are finished speaking.
- During the sessions, participants can also use the Chat/Q&A option on their device to type/text in their question to the host/panelist.
- If there is background noise on your line it may be necessary to mute you. If you find yourself muted please indicate that you will like to ask a question or make a comment by clicking the Hand Symbol or sending a message via the Chat/Q&A section.
- If you are joining the call late wait to announce your participation at the end of the call.
- Prepare your questions before you ask them. Be conscientious and to the point with as little “story” as possible; this will allow more participants to have access as well.
- This program is about YOU! When asking questions and making comments be careful not to speak for others by using words like we, they and them… We want to hear about your experience and your view, please do not speak for others.
- Everyone wants to help others, and it is normal to want to voice our opinion to someone’s comment or question; I am aware of the specific challenges the people in the program may be facing. I ask that you allow the coaching and mentoring to be done by me and my guest speaker unless I specifically ask for your input.
- At times lines do get crossed and more than one person may try to speak. You will find that I am not going to watch the clock too tightly. I truly want everyone to have a chance to speak. If you find yourself in a crossed line situation stop speaking. I will be sure to get to your question.
